One East River Place
New York, NY
415 UNITS • SOLOW BUILDING COMPANY, DEVELOPERS
Strategically oriented east-west with its narrow edge facing inland, this 49-story apartment tower on Manhattan’s East River was designed in 1987 to provide river views to most of its 415 units. The design maintains as much of these beautiful vistas as possible for the building’s neighbors by curving the southern elevation of the building. The glass-enclosed lobby creates a feeling of transparency and allows people to look through the building to the river, opening itself to the neighborhood rather than standing as an impeding structure.
A window located at the far end of each floor allows light to fill the corridors of the lobby. The laundry room is positioned on the top floor, offering views of the river and the Manhattan skyline. A public plaza, a private garden, two floors of health clubs including a roof-top swimming pool, below grade parking and medical offices beneath the lobby floor are also among amenities included in this building.
